Chris Hall

Atlanta-based chef Chris Hall loves the simplicity of pasta. "Five ingredients most of the time, yet so much variation." While making pasta, Hall is transported to a simpler place, where he can set aside the typical concerns of a restaurant owner and just enjoy using a few basic ingredients to create a beloved dish. "Every cook has what I call a default setting, a cuisine they come back to time and time again because it is meaningful and comfortable. Italian is my default setting. This [Spoonful] represents my dream, my final stop as a chef."

Hall’s shovel-shaped spoon will surely accompany him on his journey to that final destination. Purchased to replace tools that were stolen from him just before starting a new job, this spoon has considerable meaning for Hall. "This was one of the first things I bought to replace the items in my stolen knife bag. The fact I still have this spoon is significant to me, because I think [working at] Canoe was a transformative time for me. I went from cook to chef at Canoe and this spoon symbolizes that transformation to me."
